Ministry of Commerce will authorize the hiring of external inspectors to evaluate elevators

The Ministry of Industries and National Commerce will issue a transitional provision for condominiums and individuals to hire qualified personnel in the inspection and technical certification of elevators, said Francisco Garcés, president of the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Habitability of Infrastructure.

The authority, in statements collected by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), explained that the measure, enabled by a formal notification to the corresponding mayor's office, seeks to facilitate the process of validating the operation of these teams under the responsibility and decision of the residents of each building.

“This will come out soon, that is, if you have a condominium in a building with an elevator and you need to be certified in order to have it up and running, you are looking for the technician you trust, who certifies in writing that the instrument works properly, is responsible for this inspection and guarantees its operation,” Garcés explained.

The spokesman explained that the proof of technical inspection will serve as a support to condominiums for the use of elevators. “So that... this certification can be carried out by other professionals who can confirm with their professional, natural or technical company signature that the elevator is working properly,” he said.

The president of the commission indicated that, with these regulations, the decision on the technical review and the hiring of the professional will be in the hands of the residents of the property, provided that the authorization for use is notified to the local authorities, expanding professional alternatives to expedite the required habitability and infrastructure certifications.
