As an act of political conscience and national commitment to face foreign interference and demand the return of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, kidnapped by the imperialist government of the United States (USA), reading groups were activated in the 22 rooms of Popular and Communal Self-Government of the Cristóbal Rojas municipality of Miranda state.
Members of the community councils and the organized community joined these reading circles to analyze and debate two fundamental works that contextualize the current geopolitical reality: The Monroe Doctrine against Latin America and the Caribbean (1823-2023) and The Battle of Ayacucho, published by Monte Ávila Editores Latinoamericana and The Dog and the Frog for the Presidential Commission for the Commemoration of the Bicentennial, respectively.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, the reading and analysis of these texts, promoted by the mayor's office of the Cristóbal Rojas municipality and the National Book Center (CENAL), allowed attendees to delve into the continent's history of resistance and to denounce to the world the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the first lady, Cilia Flores, now prisoners of war, as well as to reaffirm the defense of national sovereignty and the right to a future of peace.
