This Thursday, consultation began across the country on content proposals for teaching and learning in the area of language practices of the Basic Education Subsystem, which includes initial, primary and secondary education levels, said Education Minister Héctor Rodríguez.

The minister, according to a press release, recalled that this consultation is in addition to the effort that has already been submitted to the country to organize educational programs related to the subjects of Identity (History, Geography and Citizenship), as well as Natural Sciences, Mathematics and, now, Spanish or language practices.

“We have submitted these four documents to the country (for consultation), it's not a new curriculum, it's trying to organize everything that's on the table, to give it temporal coherence, to match school times and they're not the final documents,” Rodríguez said.

Rodríguez urged teachers to work on these contents throughout the month of July, ordering them year by year. “I know that these issues are not easy because we have a diversity of opinions, but let's try to work from what we find and leave up for debate what we disagree with,” he said.

To date, the Ministry of Education and teachers from all over the country have initiated consultations on the teaching of Mathematics, Identity, Science and Spanish. The final document will be applied during the school year, which begins in September, to make corrections and new proposals, Rodríguez said.

Once the content has been applied in classrooms, an attempt will be made to reach a consensus to continue transforming and improving educational quality. “I ask you to open the debate, with freedom, with height, you have to win the narrative, you have to listen carefully, surely in criticism we will find the things we lack,” he said.
