Authorities from the states of Apure and Táchira carried out an exhaustive evaluation of the structure of the bridge over the Burgua River, located in the parish of San Camilo, with the objective of determining the effects caused by the intense rainfall of recent days in the southern region of the country.
A team of engineers from the Minister of the People's Power of Public Works (MPPOP) identified damage to a support made of tubes and beams, which were displaced by a whirlpool, according to the Instagram account of the Government of Apure.
He assures that after the inspection it was concluded that this did not affect the main bases or piles of the structure.
The experts confirmed that the bridge is without risk of collapse or impediments to the passage of the vehicle fleet that connects the municipalities of Páez de Apure and Fernández Feo de Táchira to the interior of the country.
To ensure the stability of the bridge and prevent future damage, work will be carried out in the coming days, which will include channeling the river to distribute the water, the revision of the bases and main piles, and the elimination of the curve that affects the flow of water.
The Ministry of Popular Power of Public Works, through Puentes Caguas, will coordinate these actions to ensure the integrity of this important infrastructure, which does not pose risks to the passage of vehicles, including heavy cargo.
