A multidisciplinary team of specialists from the state of Mérida managed the surgical intervention of a 55-kilogram jaguar that had a condition in the abdominal area.
The operation was carried out through a strategic alliance between the Nevado Mission, the Mundo Safari Wildlife Conservation Center and the Los Chorros de Milla Zoo, with the support of the Government of Mérida, according to the Instagram post of the president of Misión Nevado, Maigualida Vargas.
The procedure included sterilization as a key measure in a comprehensive treatment designed to improve the specimen's state of well-being and quality of life.
The surgery was led by the medical coordinator of the Nevado Mission, who worked together with wildlife surgeons, anesthesiologists and instrumentalists, according to Última Noticias.
The logistics of the operation included the transfer of the jaguar to the veterinary center located in Mundo Safari, where the clinical phase was carried out with high technical precision.
The president of the Nevado Mission stressed that the achievement is the product of a human mechanism committed to the science and conservation of wildlife.
It is expected that in the coming days, new details will be provided on Kelly's postoperative evolution and the scope of this inter-institutional cooperation effort.
