Monagas inaugurated the municipal phase of the Student Games

With a parade that started from Plaza Bolívar to the Pablo Higuerey Gymnasium, in Caripito, Bolívar municipality, the municipal phase of the XX National Student Sports Games 2026 was inaugurated in the state of Monagas.

More than 50,000 students from 462 primary and secondary education institutions in the region will be competing simultaneously throughout the Monaguense territory for this phase of the games, according to the Sectorial Vice Presidency for Social and Territorial Socialism on its Telegram channel.

Among the disciplines that will see action in this phase are: athletics, volleyball, basketball, chess, futsal, kikimbol, baseball 5 and artistic gymnastics.

Jhonathan Duarte, representative of the Monagas State Sports Institute (INDEM), highlighted the joint effort between the regional and municipal governments and the Ministry of Education to ensure the success of this event. “Monagas is a land of champions and these more than 50,000 boys, girls and young people represent the present and the future of Venezuelan sports,” he said.

For her part, the Sports Coordinator of the Monagas Center for the Development of Educational Quality, Yohana Cedeño, highlighted the pedagogical component of the activity. “Beyond competition, these games strengthen values such as discipline, companionship and a sense of belonging in our active schools,” he said.
