The representative to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, assured that the immunity of the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the first female combatant, Cilia Flores, is an institutional guarantee that protects the sovereignty of the State.
Moncada denounced that among the violations perpetrated by the Donald Trump administration in the military attack on January 3, “of special gravity is the kidnapping of the President of the Republic by the Government of the United States of America, which constitutes a direct transgression of an essential norm of the international legal order, which is the personal immunity of incumbent heads of state.”
“This immunity is not an individual privilege, it is an institutional guarantee that protects the sovereignty of the State and the stability of the international system. Their ignorance not only affects Venezuela, it sets an extremely dangerous precedent for all States (...) regardless of their size, power or alliances,” he warned.
In addition, the Venezuelan diplomat stressed that the US aggression included bombing of its territory, loss of civilian and military life, destruction of essential infrastructure and the kidnapping of the constitutional president and his wife.
