The permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, reiterated his complaint against the blockade imposed by North American imperialism on Cuba.

During his speech on the day of discussion and voting on the draft resolution entitled Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, he noted that the blockade is part of the empire's economic war policy and constitutes an “act of sustained aggression against a sovereign people”.

In that regard, he pointed out that this measure, which has generated losses of more than 5 billion dollars, “seeks to surrender an entire people through hunger, disease and death.”

He specified that in addition to the blockade, the United States “has tried to tarnish international Cuban solidarity with a campaign to discredit medical cooperation programs, which have saved millions of lives in multiple corners of the world.”

He explained that it is the same technique that they have tried to implement in Venezuela to achieve a change of government, “from Venezuela we speak with knowledge of the facts, because we are the target of a similar attack by the US imperial regime (...) We have received the attacks of this economic war and we are about to receive military attacks.”
