From the facilities of the Museum of Science and Technology (MINCYT), the start of the 2026 Creative Robotics Olympics took place, where more than 130 young people from Merida demonstrated their talent in programming and electronics, standing out for their ingenuity in different categories of competition.

“We are celebrating this qualifying phase of the 2026 Robotics Olympics, it is part of the fruit of the efforts of the National Scientific Seed Program, we have the participation of public institutions that are demonstrating their talents and projects,” said the president of the Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite Mérida), Nathaly Mora.

For his part, the young Diego Ramírez, a member of the TTeam-Racer team, highlighted the importance of participating in competitions and accumulated experience.

“Today I'm participating in the Keep on the Creative Line competition, it's very nice to participate, because it allows me to learn more about innovations in robotics,” said Ramírez, who proudly recalled his previous experience representing Venezuela at the international Olympics in Panama in 2023.

Also, according to a press release, in the Challenge category, Lucía Andrades, a member of the “Arqueobots” team, presented a prototype designed for the recognition of hard-to-reach spaces. “The robot helps to enter old structures or monuments in a safe way, reaching places where human beings cannot enter due to risk or difficulty,” explained the young researcher.
