A total of 15,393 kilos of cocaine, seized as part of Operation Lightning of Catatumbo, were incinerated in the Lagunillas municipality, in the state of Zulia.
The information was released through a publication made by the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace on its Instagram account, in which it was detailed that the procedure took place this Friday, April 25, in the early hours of the morning.
“We are in the Lagunillas municipality of the state of Zulia, together with representatives of the judiciary and the Public Ministry, to begin the incineration process of more than 15 tons of cocaine seized as part of Operation Lightning of Catatumbo 2025,” said the National Anti-Drug Superintendent, M/G Danny Ferrer Samdrea.
Ferrer added that these actions respond to what was announced by the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Cap. Diosdado Cabello Rondón, “who in the month of April of the current year, reported the seizure of this shipment of illicit substances, located in the La Cañonera sector of the Miranda municipality, in the state of Zulia”.
He also explained that the incineration process “is the final stage, where, with respect for constitutional guarantees and due process and under the observant eye of our Judicial System and the Territorial Defensive System, this material, which is so harmful to public health, is destroyed.”
Finally, it was highlighted that, through Operation Lightning of Catatumbo, 70 vehicles, 112 boat engines, 2 semi-submersibles, 50 speedboats and 32 thousand 673,087 kilograms of cocaine have been seized to date.
