A total of 1,700 educational institutions have been recovered throughout the country, as reported by Education Minister Héctor Rodríguez during a visit in which he supervised the recovery work of the Parque La Paz Early Childhood Education Center, located in El Paraíso.
Rodríguez stressed that the recoveries have been possible thanks to the joint work of the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Education, governorates and mayors, within the framework of the National Government's efforts to guarantee optimal conditions for Venezuelan education.
“All this time of economic difficulty with the blockade and sanctions, schools have deteriorated a lot, but now that the country is stabilizing, we have to recover them all and put them in their best possible condition,” he said.
In addition, according to a press release, the minister also announced that they have achieved an increase in school enrollment with the addition of 500 thousand children, “we are 6 million 10 thousand children and we must continue to grow. It is very important that this Early Childhood Education Center can expand its enrollment because the biggest deficit is in children in Early Childhood, Maternal and Preschool Education”.
He also called for ensuring school capacity for all children, stressing the importance of community leadership to serve those who have returned to the country after a migratory process. In that regard, he urged neighbors to identify cases with documentation difficulties and to support their incorporation into the education system.
Regarding the School Food Program (PAE), he recalled that food preservation capacity has been strengthened, with an increase in the number of refrigerators distributed nationwide.
He announced that soon there will be the distribution of uniforms for students and teachers, as well as the delivery of lenses. To date, the first 30,000 lenses have been distributed, with a goal of reaching 300,000 in total.
