More than 19,000 Palestinian students have died as a result of Israeli attack

The Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education reported that more than 19,000 students have died and 29,000 have been injured since the start of Israel's military operation against Gaza in October 2023. The institution stated that the offensive has transformed the situation of Palestinian children into an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

The Ministry explained that the attacks not only caused deaths and injuries, but also the destruction of schools, kindergartens, preschools and recreational facilities. According to the statement, thousands of boys and girls have been deprived of safe and continuous education.

The Ministry emphasized that the child population, especially in Gaza, is suffering the most serious consequences of the war, which impact their lives, their education and their future prospects. Everyday acts of violence have become stories that reflect the loss of aspirations and dreams.

The Ministry condemned the actions of Israeli forces and settlers in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Ministry reiterated that Palestinian children need a stable environment that guarantees them free education and protection, in accordance with international agreements.

Finally, the Ministry urged the international community to take immediate steps to safeguard students and support educational assistance and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.
