More than 42,000 tourists enjoyed the carnival festivities in Nueva Esparta

The governor of the state of Nueva Esparta, Marisel Velásquez, highlighted that more than 42,500 national and international tourists enjoyed the carnival festivities in the 11 municipalities of the entity.

During a contact with the Al Aire program, Velásquez, which broadcasts VTV, explained that parades, troupes and concerts were held, where the protagonists were boys, girls and teenagers.

Velásquez highlighted that hotel occupancy reached 80 percent since the start of the Carnival for Peace 2026.

He also stated that in all the municipalities of the state of Nueva Esparta there was a deployment of more than 4,000 police and military officials.

The governor indicated that the Carnivals 2026 took place without news, “which was the most important thing.” “Nueva Esparta not only as a tourist destination par excellence on Margarita Island, but also as religious tourism. Tourists were deployed on all the beaches without any news, Carnivals Happy and in Peace,” he added.

Velásquez said that the entity is also preparing for the holiday of Major Week “where we will have everything related to religion and the reception of national and international tourists.”

He stressed that those who visit this island entity of the country will be able to see how beautification and security have transformed Margarita Island. “More than 80,000 tons of asphalt have been placed in the state,” he said.
