More than 700 worshipers from various municipalities in the state of Lara gathered at the Santa Rosa church to honor the Divine Shepherdess, with dances, songs and offerings, and the cultural manifestations of Tamunangue, Burriquitas and Zaragozas.

“We celebrate this date, which is very important, since every year, on January 12, the lovers of the different events that take place in our state of Lara pay homage to our Divine Shepherdess,” said one of the popular cults.

Cultivators asked for peace, health and well-being for the Venezuelan population, while the image of the Divine Shepherdess wears, for the first time, excellently designed clothing that demonstrates the art, faith and tradition of the Tamunangue, a manifestation declared cultural heritage of the nation.

The virgin wears a blouse and skirt set, inspired by the women who dance the Tamunangue. It has flower designs, in addition, it has embroidered lines of sugar cane fields. Its layer shows the image of the oldest map in the history of Tocuyo.

This year, the cultivators await the inscription of the Tamunangue on the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
