More than 83% of those affected by earthquakes in the north-central coastal region have been discharged

A total of 19,136 patients have received comprehensive care in the various health centers in the seven states most affected by the two devastating earthquakes that struck the country on June 24. Of the global number of citizens served, 1,819 people, equivalent to 83% of cases, have already been discharged satisfactorily, according to the balance sheet presented by the sector vice-president of Science and Technology, Health and Ecosocialism, Isabel Iturria.

Iturria stressed that this record represents an encouraging balance in the midst of the contingency and is a clear example of how the Venezuelan Government, led by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, has used all its energy and logistical resources to face the tragedy

From the headquarters of the sectoral vice-presidency, he specified that the National Public Health System, with the valuable complementary support of the private sector, demonstrated a high capacity to respond to the highest initial demand, keeping the rescue and medical care of victims as an absolute priority.

Official reports detailed that the deployment of healthcare has concentrated its efforts in the country's north-central coastal region. Medical evaluations and treatments have been carried out with special emphasis in the state of La Guaira, extending rigorously to the healthcare networks of Carabobo, Aragua, Falcón and Yaracuy, in addition to other federal entities that registered a smaller scale of damage following the earthquakes.

Likewise, the progressive stabilization of the general health situation one week after the earthquakes stands out. Health sector authorities confirmed that medical brigades and field hospitals will remain active and permanently deployed in impacted communities, ensuring the absolute well-being of the population and ensuring the timely supply of essential drugs.
