More than 72,300 Cook Mothers from the School Feeding Program (PAE) will begin a training process to promote planting spaces and the correct handling of food in schools, said the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez.
“Training is necessary to create a seed bank, school gardens and fruit forests to produce products according to the scale of each institution, its needs and its reality,” Rodríguez said during a meeting with the Cooking Mothers this Thursday.
He explained, according to a press release from the Education portfolio, that the National School Food Corporation (CNAE), the Foundation for Training and Innovation to Support the Agrarian Revolution (CIARA), the National Reforestation Company (Conare) and the Tree Mission participate in these courses.
“We will train by state on a weekly basis without this interfering with daily work,” she added, while stressing that Cook Mothers are a decisive social force in the development of boys and girls.
The minister also stated that many of the current problems in children are associated with health and diet, so he called on Cook Mothers to optimize their diet, without sugar, without flour and without processed foods.
Finally, he called on those responsible for the PAE to be aware of the lives of mother cooks, “to accompany them in everything and they must be incorporated into the benefits of teachers in all care policies.”
