Next Tuesday, January 28, at 10:00am, the Museum of Architecture will screen the film “Fruitfully”, which not only entertains, but also highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating the national architectural identity.
In addition, it is part of the activities to commemorate the birth of José Fructoso Vivas Vivas, better known as Fruto Vivas, one of the most emblematic architects in Venezuela. Born on January 21, 1928 in La Grita, Táchira, Vivas Vivas left an architectural legacy that endures over time.
Vivas, at 23 years old, entered the Central University of Venezuela to study architecture, graduating in 1956, and later joining the political membership of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), as a clandestine record. In 1955 he worked with the Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, for the Museum of Modern Art in Caracas, and together with the Spaniard, Eduardo Torroja, he designed the Táchira Club.
In addition, he built the Venezuelan Pavilion for the Hannover 2000 Universal Exhibition, a controversial project, but one that was liked by visitors (after the German Pavilion, it was the second most visited). Among the works of Fruto Vivas, the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Táchira and the Museum of Modern Art in Caracas stand out.
