Mutiny inmates take 46 hostages in three prisons in Guatemala

Prisoners from three prisons in Guatemala took at least 46 hostages amid riots sparked this Saturday by members of the Barrio 18 gang, local authorities said.

According to RT, the hostages are mostly vigilant, but there is also a psychologist. There have not yet been any deaths or injuries among those captured, the Minister of the Interior, Marco Antonio Villeda, said at a press conference.

Villeda also indicated that he would not negotiate with “terrorists” and that he planned to regain control of prisons.
