Nahum Fernández evaluated risks in the Pan-American Championship in the face of the arrival of the rains

The head of the Government of the Capital District (GDC), Nahum Fernández, reported that a multidisciplinary team was deployed on the Pan-American highway in order to establish an Action and Risk Mitigation Plan, given the torrential rains that have been developing.

The information was provided on the Instagram social network, where he specified that they are “in close coordination with the G/D and Commander of the ZODI Capital, General José Figuera, as well as with the Public Security Agencies”.

He stated that in some Caracas areas there is “a high vulnerability to the rainy situation that may occur in the city.”

Fernández highlighted the importance of the population understanding that streams in streams can be clogged due to waste that is sometimes thrown into streams and can cause great human and material losses.

“We are doing preventive work to be able to guarantee if we want together a plan that we can establish in terms of spaces, the risks faced by houses,” he said.

He also pointed out that “there will be an important deployment based on reviewing the condition of the territory, the terrain, the movement of the earth and of course the survey of the different works that we must do to mitigate risk.”

He said that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has instructed “to deal with this situation promptly and efficiently, in order to prevent accidents in the capital city.”

In the first phase, they will cover a 4-kilometer stretch, from Kilometer 1 to Kilometer 5 of the Pan-American Highway, where the entrance to the La Vega parish is located, and in this way 4,300 families from the point and circle will be assisted.

“It is essential to highlight that, in conjunction with popular power, a sociopolitical uprising will take place to address in a direct and timely manner any situation that may arise. In addition, we visit various parishes in Caracas in coordination with the Risk Committees belonging to the communes and communal councils, in order to protect the life and well-being of our people,” he said.

He noted that the necessary resources will be available to implement comprehensive and effective approaches.
