Venezuelan Nathaly Grimán won the gold medal in the 68 kg women's wrestling division by beating the American Jasmine Robinson in the Pan American Championship that takes place at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, United States.

The bronze medal in this category went to Chile's Virginia Jiménez, who defeated Colombia's María Ceballo 9-0.

Grimán's road defeated Mexico's Ana Garnica 7-1, and then beat Chile's Virginia Jiménez 6-1 and reached the semifinals, where she dominated Colombia's María Ceballos 4-2 to secure a ticket to the final.

For her part, the Venezuelan Astrid Montero, won the bronze medal after beating Brazil's Lais Núñez 2-1 for the second consecutive time in the fight for third place

In his first fight, Montero beat Brazil's Núñez 4-1; then, he liquidated Colombia's Paula Montoya 10-0 for technical superiority and ended his qualifying round by beating Canada's Annikka Finne 3-1

However, in the semifinals, she fell 3-1 to Mexico's Melanie Jiménez.

In the Greco-Roman wrestling modality, Luis Avenaño won the bronze medal in 87 kg. The Venezuelan won the fight after the absence of Dominican Jhoan Batista, who did not show up due to injury

Avenaño showed a high level on his way to the podium: he dominated Peruvian Carlos Espinoza 9-0 in his debut; in the second round he beat Dominican Batista 8-1; and in his third fight he beat Brazilian André Ramos 9-0 for technical superiority to secure his pass to the semifinals, where he fell to the Cuban Daniel Hechavarría.
