The National Assembly (AN) appointed this Tuesday the board and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups with some nations of the world to advance legislative, social, scientific and cultural rapprochement with these countries at this stage of the new period 2026-2031.
After the start of the Ordinary Session, the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, announced the list of the principal nominees to hold the presidencies and vice-presidencies.
He commented that between 2021 and 2025, it was precisely the massive formation of friendship groups with the countries of the world “that allowed us to develop a process of parliamentary diplomacy, which in many moments and in many ways overcame the siege to which we had been subjected”.
He denounced those international institutions that he did not hesitate to describe as “baseless, completely empty institutions”, such as the supposed global interparliamentary union.
“We managed to overcome this garbage with the work of parliamentary diplomacy, direct relations, with the world's parliaments, with the rapprochement and solidarity expressed by the world's parliaments in the face of the aggression suffered by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” Rodríguez said.
He urged the deputies of the various opinion groups in the AN to form and work actively in the parliamentary friendship groups that were announced at that time.
Rodríguez indicated only the names of presidents (presidents) and vice-presidents (vice-presidents) and invited those interested to coordinate with the vice-president of the parliament, Pedro Infante, to voluntarily join the friendship group of their choice, through the Secretariat of the legislative body, in addition to wishing the best success in the work to be carried out. “May they do very well!”
