The National Assembly (AN) celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Junín, a historic event that not only established the independence of Peru, but also consolidated the integrationist project of Gran Colombia.
“The homeland celebrates the definitive liberation with the Battle of Junín, which allowed it to advance in the deep South of America and shortly thereafter the definitive expulsion of the Spanish empire from these lands,” said the president of the Parliament Jorge Rodríguez.
He stressed that Venezuela is the only country in which his troops have come out to defend and fight for the freedom of the Peoples.
“The most beautiful name that has been acquired by force, in its own right, by an army of our coastal, Zulianos and Guianeses, who bear the name of the Liberation Army of the American continent,” he said.
