In order to strengthen the National Public Health System (SPNS), the Bolivarian Government has launched a massive deployment of medical supplies to ensure the well-being of the Venezuelan population.
As part of the Endocrine-Metabolic Disease Prevention Program of the Ministry of Health (MinSalud), the national distribution of insulins in their variants NPH-30/70, Cristalina, Glargina and Lispro is being implemented. This institutional office also includes the corresponding application devices and needles, with the firm objective of eliminating barriers to access treatment and providing peace of mind to all insulin-dependent patients.
The Deputy Minister of Resources, Technology and Regulation, José Manuel Medina, regarding distribution logistics, reported that this Friday, December 26, the dispatch was carried out to 13 states of the country, in addition to the entities served last Tuesday in the states of Miranda, La Guaira and Caracas.
“It is expected that between today and tomorrow, coverage will be completed in all 25 states of the national territory, ensuring that the flow of medicines does not stop in any region,” he said.
In addition, according to a press release, Medina emphasized that this supply is vital to restore glycemic control to citizens; she also stated that, in cases of type I diabetes, the drug makes up for the absolute deficiency of the hormone, preventing ketoacidosis and maintaining life. For its part, in type II diabetes, it is used to reduce chronic hyperglycemia when other treatments are insufficient, thus mitigating the risk of microvascular complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy, as well as macrovascular conditions of cardiovascular origin.
The distribution, in addition to insulin, includes critical supplies for the national immunization schedule, such as Pentavalent, Inactivated Polio (IPV), SRP vaccines against measles, rubella and mumps, as well as doses against yellow fever and diphtheria tetanus toxoid.
In the same way, reagents are being distributed to blood banks and laboratories in order to strengthen diagnostic services that operate 24 hours a day, said the ministerial authority.
In addition, he added that the community pharmacy network will receive these supplies as a matter of priority to guarantee treatment to all registered patients.
