The municipality of Santa María de Ipire, in the state of Guárico, is being the scene of four major projects in the field of drinking water, to serve its 18,000 inhabitants.
According to a press release from the Ministry for Water Care, from the replacement of long pipe sections, such as the adaptation of a new reservoir, the construction of a barge to capture the resource, to the creation of a distribution network that optimizes service.
With a large deployment of heavy machinery, jumbos, backhoes, cargo trucks and more than fifty Minaguas workers, the replacement of an important adduction, consisting of more than 17 kilometers of 12-inch diameter steel and HDPE pipes, has been consolidated from the La Becerra reservoir to the Santa María de Ipire water treatment plant, in addition to the installation of 1.8 kilometers of 12-inch diameter pipe, in the Banco Obrero sector to complete this aqueduct.
In addition, in La Becerra, a new barge was built to optimize the collection of water resources, with a 100 HP pumping unit, to carry water for 24 kilometers to La Lagunita, and then be treated at the plant and then distributed to the population of Santamarieños.
La Lagunita is another of the great works that are being carried out in the Guarique region. The Hidropáez workforce is carrying out an extension to convert “La Lagunita” into an artificial reservoir, which allows storing greater water flow during rainy seasons and at the same time damming the water that will come from El Embalse La Becerra, shortening the distances between collection and purification, and thus streamlining water production processes with this new system.
