The Instituto Autonomo Hospital Universitario de Los Andes (IAHLA) re-established the operation of its Microbiology Laboratory and the Infectology Consultation after seven years of stoppage.
The governor of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, handed over the recovered areas, which will allow free diagnoses of complex infectious diseases in the main healthcare center in the Andean region.
Sánchez highlighted that this department is one of three of its kind in operation at the national level.
The reactivation included the provision of specialized equipment, such as a laminar flow hood and high-precision microscopes, funded by the National Executive through the Ministry of People's Power for Health.
