The Bolivarian Government reinaugurated the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Dr. Domingo Luciani National General Hospital, located in the Sucre municipality, Miranda state, which will serve more than 15,000 families in the area.

According to a press release, the Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, pointed out that the delivery of this work is a commitment of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to recover and modernize public health spaces.

During the delivery of the new facilities, the importance of having neonatal and pediatric intensive care areas was highlighted, which will allow critical patients to be treated with the necessary support.

“We provide a space that has the highest technological endowment thanks to cooperation with the People's Republic of China, which is part of the hospital infrastructure recovery agenda despite the unilateral coercive measures facing our country,” he said.

He asserted that in recent months, new neonatology and pediatric services have been implemented in several hospitals in the state of Miranda, strengthening maternal and child care in the region.

“Miranda already has three very high-level hospital services this year alone, to give us an idea. The three services provide postgraduate courses, but they also have all the technological infrastructure, medical specialists, health personnel and all the technological equipment that allows patients to be cared for in real time,” he said.

For her part, the Minister for Health, Magaly Gutiérrez, said that this is a timely service for children.

“This critical service, which saves lives for our child population, is one of the most important, because it will ensure that the child leaves the picture in which he is and then transferred to the corresponding service,” he said.

He stressed that 425 works are being carried out nationwide to strengthen the health sector, including the training of doctors and specialists in various areas.
