The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the inauguration of Marisel Velásquez as governor of the state of Nueva Esparta for the period 2025-2029, asked the new regional president to fight corruption and drug trafficking in the entity.

“Promote peace and justice, and an all-out fight against drug trafficking mafias, defend and prevent drug trafficking from clutching its claws on Margarita and keep this island clean of Colombian drug traffickers or any fur,” urged the head of state.

He also ordered a frontal fight against terrorism and to cleanse public bodies of mafias and corruption, stressing that for this, peace and justice are fundamental.

“There are the main lines of progress,” he emphasized.
