National taekwondo returns to the Olympic Games, after
winning his Yohandri Granado ticket to the highest event in
the sport Paris 2024.
The Venezuelan beat Colombian Jhon Garrido 2-0 (8-2 and
10-3) in the semifinal of -58 kilograms in the Taekwondo Olympic Qualifying Championship held in the Dominican Republic.
Granado started the day in a round of 16, where he beat Sidney Bennie from Trinidad and Tobago 14-1 and 11-0. In the quarterfinals, he had no problems against Guatemalan David Fuentes, whom he dispatched 2-0 and 14-1, according to the Venezuelan Olympic Committee press.
Since Rio 2016, Venezuela has not competed in this discipline
in the Olympic Games, after the performance of Edgar Contreras, who placed fifth and won the Olympic diploma in -68 kilograms.
