National Theater Festival will be held later this year with more than 400 proposals

At the end of this year, a National Theater Festival will be held, based on 400 proposals submitted by Venezuelan groups, as announced by the director of the National Theater Company, Carlos Arroyo.

He also indicated that these plays were originally presented for the International Progressive Theater Festival (FITP), but the quantity was sufficient to create a separate theater.

“This year we won't have one festival, but two. The Venezuela International Progressive Theater Festival 2025, which opens this Thursday in Caracas, at the end of this year there will be a National Theater Festival based on some 400 theatrical proposals presented by Venezuelan groups,” he celebrated.

By virtue of receiving more than 400 requests for the FITP, the National Executive granted the space deserved to Venezuelan theatrical talent when the National Theater Festival resumed, whose last edition was in 1993.

He said that the number of applications received after the national call covers community, school, university, prison, amateur and professional theater, in the 24 states of the country and the Capital District.

Arroyo indicated that the call in Caracas accumulated 90 artistic proposals, and the others correspond to the interior of the country. In addition, training plans and requests for support were received for general production, and a significant number of requests for support in terms of infrastructure, techniques such as lighting and sound.
