Through a statement, the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity categorically rejected the policies of threats and aggressions by North American imperialism against sovereign peoples.

“The policy of threats and aggression against our peoples, which has been unleashed by US imperialism through President Donald Trump, continues in a voracious manner. This policy is not an isolated or random event; it is the contemporary expression of a hegemonic and unilateral doctrine that has sought to subjugate Our America to its geopolitical and economic interests,” the text notes.

They also emphasized that “after the vile, cowardly and devious attack against Venezuela, which claimed the lives of more than 100 Venezuelans and Cubans, and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Congresswoman Cilia Flores, the U.S. president is once again threatening Cuba, redoubling his hostile rhetoric and blockade actions against Cuba, demonstrating that his ultimate goal is to overthrow any model of social justice and national independence in our continent.”

For this reason, they called for mobilization in defense of Venezuela and Cuba, “two peoples that have twinned together in their anti-imperialist struggles and battles, with the tireless drive of commanders Fidel and Chávez.”
