New Popular Economy Ordinance in Caracas will be discussed on September 5

During the II Popular Economy Meeting organized by the Mayor's Office of Caracas, the president of the Municipal Council of the Libertador Municipality, Danniellys Angulo, announced that the Popular Economy Ordinance will be discussed on Thursday, September 5, in a regular session of the Caracas legislative body.
In this regard, he added that the content of the ordinance will be disseminated through social networks, as well as at information days in the 22 parishes of Caracas, so that “everyone can be heard and present their proposals.”
For his part, Jorge Cordero, Director of Urban Control of the Mayor's Office of Caracas, during this sectoral assembly with the spokespersons and spokespersons of the popular street economy, asserted that several agreements were reached for its operation that will be submitted to the Municipal Council for approval.

In this regard, he expressed the importance of updating the ordinance on economic activities of the popular economy in the street to promote order and organization in Greater Caracas.
“An ordinance that needs to be updated for the organization of spaces according to economic activity, as well as for the prosperity of the city of Caracas, and in which representatives of this sector support the creation of the Institute of Popular and Solidarity Economy of the city of Caracas, which gives impetus to activities through funding and organization as well as the encouragement of commercialization and exchange,” said Cordero.
He stressed that the popular street economy sector is being incorporated into the city's proposed tourist routes, because these projects are recognized as part of the Caracas tradition driven by the popular street economy.
During the meeting, the digital systematization of permits was announced for those who carry out popular economy activities, such management can be carried out through the Sigat page, established by the Mayor's Office of Caracas.
“Now the comrades and comrades of the popular economy, citizens and citizens who exercise a popular economy on the street will be able to make their request through this system and will be able to obtain their permission through this system,” he explained.
He specified that the Popular Economy coordination, so far, has a data of 1068 registered files and 706 new files of merchants who exercise the popular economy in Caracas.
In addition, the consultation route was announced in the 22 parishes after approval of the municipal ordinance of the Popular Economy, a proposal promoted by spokespersons and spokespersons from the different sectors and organizations linked to different economic activities.
With the incorporation into the proposal of the Municipal Ordinance of Popular Economy of the creation of the Institute of Popular and Solidarity Economy for the support and regulation of people who carry out an economic activity so that this sector can count on the necessary protection and funding.
It should be noted that the declaration of July 28 as Popular Street Economy day is in honor of Commander Chávez, who in his childhood was a spider seller and a great defender of the popular economy, building markets to vindicate his struggles.

Jhonny Hernández, a kiosk from the Cathedral Parish, expressed his joy after the agreements reached at this meeting for a sector that during the Fourth Republic was stigmatized as lazy and thugs, so they were made to pay sentences of several months in prison, for carrying out popular street commerce.
“I remember that because I was a peddler, I spent 70 days in prison, but now we have a Government that supports and respects us, creating a proposal together, where each of our opinions and interests is taken into account, they even ask us what color kiosk we want,” he said.
