In the framework of the Extraordinary Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), this Sunday the Government of Nicaragua criticized the breaking of peace in Latin America as a result of the criminal military attack by the United States (USA) against Venezuela.
During his speech, the Nicaraguan co-foreign minister, Valdrack Jaentschke, demanded the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped and illegally transferred to U.S. territory during the invasion of January 3.
“We join the call of the vice-president of Venezuela, comrade Delcy Rodríguez, to defend truth, justice and life, and demand the immediate release of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, comrade Nicolás Maduro Moros and his wife, comrade Cilia Flores,” he said, stressing that “peace has been deeply wounded” by imperial actions.
The senior official reiterated the importance of maintaining the Latin American and Caribbean region “as a zone of peace and development”, in which “the popular desire” can take place “to build a more just, supportive and equitable world”.
He stressed that the Central American nation joins the clamor of the entire world in the struggle for international law and sovereignty to prevail, and called for that instance to demand respect for the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its rights enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
