This Friday, November 22, the reforms to the Political Constitution of Nicaragua were approved by 91 deputies, aimed at consolidating the State's legal base and strengthening the reduction of poverty in this Central American country, said the president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras.
In a review published on the Sputnik Mundo portal, when speaking before the Plenary, Porras stated that “we have the responsibility today to jointly draw up a constitutional framework in accordance with the new times of security, the new times of understanding and internalization in all Nicaraguans; regardless of political thinking.”
He stressed that “the first thing is independence, sovereignty, self-determination, security and peace, to achieve well-being and triumph in the fight against poverty.”
The partial reforms to the Magna Carta approved in the first instance were proposed by the President of the Republic, Daniel Ortega, to incorporate fundamental elements in line with the “Revolutionary State” and to modernize the set of laws that govern this nation.
Porras called on political forces to unite to face the difficult moments that the world is experiencing.
The deputies reformed more than 170 articles, including the incorporation of the red-black flag of “the struggle of General Augusto C. Sandino and the Sandinista Popular Revolution” as a national symbol.
