The Government of the Republic of Nicaragua announced its withdrawal from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Through an official statement, the Government of Daniel Ortega accused these organizations of interference, falsehoods and politicized action against the Central American country.

According to the publication of Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), this decision is motivated by the fact that these organizations “do not fulfill the mission for which they were created,” announced the vice-president of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo.

In this context, he indicated that the decisions that the ILO Governing Body has been taking are biased, lack objectivity, are based on biased information and reports from agencies that have lent themselves and lend themselves to the maneuvers of those who attack, have attacked and continue to attack the peace and tranquility of Nicaraguans.”

Murillo said that the ILO has acted in a “politicized manner, lending itself to maneuvers of destabilization and interference,” when evaluating complaints from employers and employees about violations of labor rights.

Finally, the vice-president of Nicaragua emphasized that, through communications, they announce the severing and closing of relations with the ILO and the IOM, since they do not fulfill their duty to serve the good of all.
