Nicaraguan Naval Force rescued more than 20 people from a shipwreck near Corn Island

This Saturday, the Nicaraguan Army Naval Force rescued more than 20 people from the wreck of a boat near Corn Island in the Caribbean region.

The boat had 25 to 27 people of different nationalities on board, according to the communication received by the Corn Island Captaincy.

In a statement, the Nicaraguan Government indicated that survivors receive medical care in nearby hospitals.

During the first operation, only nine people were rescued alive and two dead bodies.

According to what was published on the TELESUR web portal, the search and rescue continued throughout the afternoon of December 23.
