The Minister of Popular Power for Women, Yelitze Santaella, reported that today 503,000 women participate as spokespersons for the country's 5,336 community organizations, while 276,000 are organized in Women's Committees in the territories.

During the Sin Truco Ni Maña program, she highlighted that the Venezuela Women's Mission, created two years ago by the National Executive, has 6 million 300 thousand women incorporated into its seven axes of action. “Together we are stronger,” said Santaella.

Santaella explained that this implementation responds to President Nicolás Maduro's guidance to move forward with “more territory and less secretariat”, which has allowed women's organization in 3,546 municipalities and the approach of 16,400 municipal councils. She stressed that identity, health and prevention are priorities: “The first thing is to take care of, value and recognize ourselves as women.”

Santaella highlighted that, before the Revolution, women represented only 5% of political spaces. “It was difficult for us to take office. With Chávez, we now have a leading participation in public office of 42%. Women were incorporated into daily life and the decision-making process.”

The minister said that today Venezuelan women study, train and prepare, backed by laws and policies that reinforce their leading role. “Without the leading participation of women, there would hardly have been a Revolution,” she recalled, citing Commander Hugo Chávez.

Santaella reported that the Josefa Joaquina Sánchez Movement today brings together more than 2 million women across the country, articulated in processes of formation, organization and territorial support.
