Nueva Esparta once again receives thousands of devotees from different regions of the country to pay homage to the Virgin of the Valley, one of the most venerated Marian invocations in Venezuela.
The day marks the beginning of the religious activities planned for this month, in an atmosphere of recollection and tradition.
This year, it is estimated that more than 30,000 parishioners will participate, who come to thank fulfilled promises and to share testimonies of faith. Through the social networks of the Minor Basilica, Monsignor Fernando Castro Aguayo confirms that preparations for the celebration of 2025 are already under way.
On September 7, starting at 8:00pm, the Virgin will leave at 10:00pm on her way to the Eucharistic field. Meanwhile, on September 8, the Feast of the Virgin of the Valley is celebrated with a program that includes:
- Pilgrimage to San Pedro de Coche Parish, at 12:00 in the morning, presided over by priest Marlon Alexander Díaz Zabala.
- Solemn Youth Eucharist, at 2:30 a.m., presided over by priest Sergio Luis Rojas Rojas.
- Solemn Eucharist of the Dawn, at 5:00 p.m., presided over by priest Andrés José Villarroel Rivero.
- Pontifical Eucharist, at 8:00 a.m., presided over by Monsignor Alberto Ortega, Apostolic Nuncio of Venezuela.
- Procession in Plaza Mariño, at 5:00 p.m., where attendees accompany the Sacred Image on their journey.
The celebration reaffirms the spiritual roots of the Virgin of the Valley in eastern Venezuela and consolidates her role as a symbol of faith for fishermen, families and communities that actively participate in each liturgical act.
