The Coordinating Office of Hydrography and Navigation (OCHINA), attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Defense, received its certification as an industrial member of the Intergovernmental Association of Navigation Aids and Lighthouse Authority (IALA).

Obtaining this certification by OCHINA represents a historic milestone and an invaluable platform for discussing advances in navigation aids. It also allows the Venezuelan state to strengthen its operational capacities, share knowledge and modernize its navigation aid systems, reaffirming our vision for a safer future for navigators in Venezuelan aquatic spaces and consolidating our position as regional leaders.

OCHINA is committed to the country's sustainable maritime development and navigation safety in waters under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and active participation in meetings with IALA committees, as well as workshops and seminars, will allow this hydrographic office to explore emerging technologies and review progress in capacity building and technical cooperation.

Venezuela recently participated in the 1st General Assembly of the IALA held in Singapore and demonstrated at the international level the country's compliance with current regulations, achieving 82.85% in effective navigation aid solutions. This was possible thanks to the joint effort of the Hydrography, Oceanography, Meteorology and Nautical Cartography Service (SHN), which has maintained a proactive approach to ensure that navigation operates in optimal conditions, while continuously training its technical staff, OCHINA press reports.

Founded in 1957, IALA brings together navigation authorities, manufacturers, consultants and scientific and training institutes from around the world, providing a space for the exchange and comparison of experiences and achievements.
