The Office of the Ombudsman agreed to establish a permanent exchange with the authorities of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, in order to maintain the coordination of views and experiences regarding the advancement of the dialogue agenda in the country.

This was announced by the coordinator of the program, Ernesto Villegas, on his Telegram channel, after holding a meeting with the Ombudsman, Eglée González Lobato, with whom he reviewed the path of the Peace Program initiative by setting up working groups with different sectors.

“We welcome the decision of the Ombudsman to work based on specific projects in favor of the rights of Venezuelan women, for which we have set ourselves up to order in the spirit of cooperation that the current time requires. We agreed to establish a permanent link for these purposes,” said Villegas.

For his part, González announced that he will provide a permanent link to strengthen work between the two instances, to remain articulated and consolidate a path to peace and to develop actions that contribute to dialogue and national reconciliation.

“There have to be agreements, there have to be those early alarms and the Ombudsman's Office wants to act not only in a way of reaction, but perhaps of prevention, of conversation, but there must be order, there must be rules,” the defender explained, considering that the participation of her office is the order of the people to cooperate in this agenda of dialogue with all sectors of the country.

Both personalities agreed that the Venezuelan State reaffirms its will to build a common destiny, through mutual recognition and social justice, and invited all sectors of good will to join this effort for definitive peace.

During the meeting, different issues were addressed in the political, social and economic spheres to promote peace, respect and tolerance. In addition, both Venezuelan institutions reviewed progress on the path of national unity and the meeting as a space to resolve political differences, strengthen stability, social harmony and political dialogue in all its dimensions.
