OPEC says that global demand for oil in 2026 could increase by 1.4 million barrels a day

Global oil demand in 2026 could increase by 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd), to 106.53 million, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said in a report on Wednesday.

In 2025, demand was 105.15 million barrels. For 2027, OPEC expects an increase in oil demand of 1.34 million bpd, to 107.87 million crud, according to the statement quoted by the news agency TASS.

In this regard, the report indicates that growth in countries outside the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be 1.2 million barrels in 2026-2027.

In this regard, it will be primarily driven by the needs of Asian countries and backed by India and the People's Republic of China.

OPEC also highlighted its forecast for the growth of oil supply from “non-OPEC+” countries by 2026 by 0.6 million bpd, to 54.83 million barrels. The organization points out that the main contribution to the increase in extraction will come from the United States, Canada, Brazil and Argentina.
