Operation Caracas Sonrie has succeeded in carrying out 142 surgeries in the capital city

Through Operation Caracas Smile, 142 surgical interventions have been performed on people with various pathologies and who required it, said the mayor of the capital city, Carmen Melendez.

During the deployment of this program in the parish of January 23, specifically in the Sierra Maestra sector, he explained that the operations have been carried out on both adults and children, thanks to the joint work of the different bodies of government.

“We are reaching 95% of real-time attention to people. They come with their problems, we listen to them and we take care of them. If it requires an operation, we do it, and if we have to revisit people, we visit them,” he said, while stating that this program has provided help, for now, to the inhabitants of 7 parishes in Caracas.

He stressed that those cases that cannot be treated immediately are subsequently reviewed and solved by community brigades. “This is how we monitor and control the different cases,” he said.

In this regard, he explained that this Tuesday more than 550 workers from the Caracas mayor's office were deployed in the aforementioned Caracas sector to comprehensively serve the inhabitants of the Sierra Maestra and El Panal 2021 communes, as well as the Revolutionary Vanguard community circuit.

He also stressed that these actions are part of the instructions given by the president, Nicolás Maduro, to bring government efforts closer to communities and Popular Power, within the framework of the Plan of the 7 Transformations.
