This Tuesday, March 12, the opposition member Andrés Caleca stated that he would be willing to register his candidacy with the National Electoral Council (CNE) if the Venezuelan extreme right does not define what will happen to the opposition María Corina Machado, who claims to be the candidate although she is politically disqualified.
“I will not support any political proposal that means abandoning the 2024 electoral process (...) If no one signs up, I'll go to the CNE and sign up on my own. We cannot leave Venezuelans without alternatives,” said Caleca, according to information from the Ideadatos news account on the social network X.
However, let's remember that Caleca was one of those who played the trick on María Corina Machado to remain a candidate, after the supposed primaries held by that sector, despite the disqualification that, as they already knew, weighs on her.
In addition, this former candidate for the primaries is not the only one who suggests that Machado step aside, the former candidate for the primaries, Gloria Pinho, called for leaving personal interests and looking for a candidate for that sector.
“It's time to form a true unity. Detachment is maturity and a demonstration of love for our Venezuela. This is a historic moment that may never be repeated. Venezuela is clamoring for a single candidate. No more individualism and personal interests,” he wrote on the social network X.
On the other hand, it is important to mention that the former vice-president of the National Primary Commission, María Carolina Uzcátegui, had already warned about this problem that would be presented to that sector of the right that carried out a primary process with irregularities. In addition, this is why he recently declared that today this sector “does not have a candidate” to register in the next 13 days, as proposed by the CNE.
