The Chicago White Sox will retire the number 13 of Venezuelan Oswaldo 'Ozzie' Guillén, during a pre-game ceremony on August 8, when the team will host the Guardians, as announced by the organization during the first home game of the season, this Friday afternoon against the Blue Jays.
The White Sox moved to their CHSN studios after Sean Burke retired to Toronto at the top of the third episode, where Guillén was sitting with Chuck Garfien and Scott Podsednik.
Garfien and Guillén make up the panel for the programs before and after the games, while Podsednik was a key player in the 2005 World Series champion team led by Guillén.
Podsednik read the proclamation about Guillén, bringing him to tears in the air, followed by an embrace with his wife, Ibis. The Venezuelan was the starting shortstop for the White Sox from 1985 to 1997, and then led the team from 2004 to 2011. He finished with a 678-617 (.524) record in command.
