Legislators from the Republic of India severely criticized the deportation of one hundred Indian immigrants shackled during a 40-hour flight from the United States (USA).
This new incident violating international law and human rights is part of the policy of mass deportation announced by US President Donald Trump after his return to the White House on January 20.
According to international media, a group of Indian legislators demonstrated in front of parliament this Thursday, while in New Delhi, members of the youth wing of India's main opposition party burned an effigy of Trump.
“They handcuffed our hands and tied our ankles with chains before taking the flight (...) We asked military officers to release us to eat or go to the bathroom, but they treated us horribly and without any consideration,” said Akashdeep Singh, 23, who arrived in Punjab this Wednesday along with 103 other deported people.
For his part, Sukhpal Singh, 35, confirmed that he was kept shackled throughout the flight, even on a stopover to refuel the plane on the Pacific island of Guam.
