The Minister of Popular Power for Defense, GJ Vladimir Padrino López, praised the men and women who make up the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) this Sunday, celebrating the 87th anniversary of the founding of the military corps.
In a statement, Padrino López highlighted that the GNB has been “fulfilling the admirable mission of safeguarding borders and internal order throughout the country” for 87 years. This distinguished component of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, always faithful to its duty, calm in the face of danger and carrying out its constitutional functions with dignity, prudence and temperance, has proven to live up to the historic moment that the nation is experiencing.”
He stressed that the GNB is constituted as “the military organization with the largest deployment throughout the national geography”, undergoing “a profound transformation, going beyond the exclusive control of public order, to a wide spectrum of responsibilities that encompass citizen security, environmental day care, coastal surveillance, road safety, the fight against drug trafficking and social coordination, among other important tasks, always carried out within the framework of laws and respect for human rights.”
Padrino López regretted that, in the line of duty, many members of the GNB “have given their lives, as has just happened in the recent violent terrorist actions carried out by the Venezuelan extreme right, since Monday, July 29, after the end of the Presidential Elections 2024 process.”
“In the face of these repugnant events, our fearless National Guards, with fearlessness and loyalty, have assumed a stellar role in defending peace, tolerance and other fundamental rights of the Venezuelan people,” he added.
In this sense, he exalted “the men and women of Carrubio, whom we meet everywhere every day, working tirelessly, with an authentic and unwavering vocation for service”.
