It is not a coincidence but a “causality” that the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles occurs just at the moment when our country is militarily threatened by the United States, said Defense Minister, G/J Vladimir Padrino López.
“I see Venezuela full of lights, of virtues. I don't see it as a coincidence that at a time as difficult as the one we are facing today, in which ships, large missile ships, destroyers, B-52, B-1, F-35 planes making inroads near our shores, intimidating a People of God such as Venezuela, this is a causality. The people of Venezuela do not deserve to be under the criminal stalking of North American imperialism,” said the senior military official during a mass of thanksgiving for the canonization of San José Gregrorio Hernández and Santa Carmen Rendiles.
In this regard, the head of the Defense portfolio reiterated that the Venezuelan people are peace-loving and have demonstrated this historically.
In the same way, he thanked the efforts of President Nicolás Maduro and Pope Francis to achieve the beatification of these distinguished Venezuelans. “When we bring these saints to Venezuela, we do so as a reference as an example and as a requirement for each of us to try every day to be more perfect and to seek holiness,” he said.
