This Thursday, the Foreign Ministry of the Palestinian Authority denounced that Israel seeks to commit crimes of genocide and displacement in the Gaza Strip, following statements by the Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, who referred to the Palestinian territory as a “housing bonanza” and who is in talks with the United States (USA), about how to divide the enclave once it is rebuilt.
The Palestinian Ministry in a statement expressed its “extreme concern” at Israel's “provocative” calls to treat the Gaza Strip as “real estate subject to sale, division or assignment”.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry considers that these statements constitute “an attempt to perpetrate crimes of genocide and displacement, and an official recognition of the intentions of the occupation to destroy the entire Gaza Strip and turn it into an uninhabitable land”, adding that this “clearly reveals plans to displace its population”.
Smotrich's statements came this Wednesday during a real estate conference in Tel Aviv, where he stated that the Gaza Strip is becoming “a housing bonanza” and that he is in talks with the United States about how to divide the Palestinian enclave once it is rebuilt.
“We paid a lot of money for the war, so we have to decide how to divide the percentages of land in Gaza. The demolition phase is always the first phase of urban renewal. We already did it, now we have to start building,” said Smotrich.
