This Monday, the Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohamad Shtayé, together with his government team, submitted their resignation to the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas.
“The decision comes in the face of political,
economic and security events related to the aggression against our people in
the Gaza Strip and the unprecedented escalation in the West Bank, including
East Jerusalem,” Shtayé said during the weekly Cabinet meeting in Ramallah.
He also assured that “We will continue to confront the occupation and the Palestinian Authority will continue to fight to establish a State on the land of Palestine.”
According to what was published by the
Telesur web portal, so far, Abbas has not responded to the announcement of Shtayé, who
had held the position since April 2019.
