The National Art Gallery (GAN) will open its doors this Friday, April 30, to celebrate the Paradura del Niño, a festive event that is at the heart of Venezuelan identity and marks the official closing of the Christmas holidays.
According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, the GAN extended the invitation to the entire population to enjoy this activity in its spaces starting at 10:00 in the morning.
The Perla Fina Group and the Brotherhood of the Child Jesus of Petare will be present at the event.
La Paradura del Niño is a traditional Catholic festival in the Venezuelan Andes (Mérida, Táchira, Trujillo), celebrated from January 1 to February 2 (Candlemas Day).
This tradition consists of standing up the representative image of the Child God that is placed at birth, which symbolizes the first steps of Jesus in this world, by the hand of Mary, his mother and Joseph, his earthly father.
