In the Rafael Rangel municipality of Trujillo state, a procession walk began this Sunday from Valera to Isnotú, to commemorate the 161st anniversary of the birth of San José Gregorio Hernández. After this religious mobilization, other scheduled activities will take place, such as the solemn Eucharist.
Among the parishioners, devotee Antonio Ramírez attributes his survival to 10 surgical operations to the figure of the Venezuelan doctor. “Thanks to Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, I am alive; this is a miracle and whenever I can come and do it I will do it with great pleasure,” he said.
For his part, Jhony Suárez began his walk from home starting at 5:00 AM. In parallel, Jesús Suárez invited potential interested parties to participate in this walk to “be able to share with this crowd this pleasant moment of celebrating the elevation of our saint José Gregorio Hernández”.
The citizen Daniela Briceño, in statements offered to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), explained that she is going to the walk because of a promise made for the benefit of her husband, who suffered an accident five years ago. “Proud to be Venezuelan and by the way to have a saint,” she said.
